Balmain Nation

Balmain is on the fashion world’s radar this week with the much talked about Balmain x H&M collaboration by Olivier Rousteing launching on November 5.

And while this affordable line is great news for Balmain fans that don’t want to spend mainline Balmain prices. Saving for the real staple like this Balmain black blazer from LuisaViaRoma.com, versus buying the trend, is one of the more fulfilling lessons I’ve learned in my love and passion for fashion.

A real Balmain piece is special and there is a reason for that hefty price tag. When you read about the history of the trailblazing brand started by Pierre Balmain back in 1945 when World War II was ending, you truly get a deep sense of the strength and individuality a luxury brand had to have to survive at a time of great depression. Pierre Balmain was bold and determined to bring back glamour and excitement to fashion, the same way Olivier Rousteing has since 2011. I like a sense of strong individuality and that’s why I was ready for my first Balmain blazer. (I have a leather jacket I bought second had from pre-Olivier and a dress)

I always make sure to check out LuisaViaRoma.com for essentials like these great J Brand jeans and Isabel Marant flat suede boots. However, it is also a shopping site with cutting edge edits that you won’t find anywhere else. They offer free International shipping and free returns, so trying things on in the comfort of your home is worry free. Sometimes I really prefer more expensive items to be delivered to my home and tried on in front of my own mirror without the in-store pressure. They consistently have a great Balmain selection, so I knew just where to find my new Balmain classic.

I bought the Isabel Marant boots and the Balmain jacket both on LuisaViaRoma.com not planning to wear them together, but when I tried them on, I liked how casual the boots made the jacket – chic on the DL. Days later, I wore the same jacket with a simple black camisole, black leather leggings, and my pointed toe Gianvito Rossi boots, also from LuisaViaRoma.com for a fiercer look. Sometimes I like to go on the DL, but sometimes fashion is meant for kicking it up a notch and well, just maybe…joining the kick-ass Balmain Nation.
