What I Wore: Dominican Republic

I’m going to be honest, 2016 was a bit of a whirlwind! Don’t get me wrong, I loved every minute of it, but the ability to take a month off and spend it relaxing with my family was the best Christmas present I could’ve asked for.

We left London in late December and flew to Chicago to spend Christmas with my family. Having a white Christmas with my kids was fantastic, but after a week or so we were all very excited to swap the snow for some sand; so, we boarded a jet and headed to the Dominican Republic!

The Dominican Republic is one of my absolute favourite places in the world. Its gorgeous clear, teal water and soft, white sands make for the perfect “it” destination!

I wish I could’ve fit you all in my suitcase, but I hope you’ll settle for seeing what was in my suitcase instead! Hopefully some of these pieces will inspire your own winter escape; after all, a holiday getaway is key to surviving the December-to-January slump (go on, you deserve it!).

On holiday I think it’s all about being easy and feeling beautiful. I admit, I overpack a little bit (okay a lot) but my biggest piece of advice when packing for a beach vacation will always be to pack pieces that transition. You need your outfits to work form the ocean-front to a beach-front restaurant.

This is the rule I followed when packing for this trip, and here I’ve outlined everything in my suitcase so you can see how they work individually and with one another. A bright bathing suit is perfect on the beach and to make a stylish statement in the evening all you have to do is slip a sheer dress over top, add some amazing sandals and a bright lipVacation dressing should be fun! This is your opportunity to wear bright colours, fun patterns, high hemlines, and tassels all at once, so embrace it whole heartedly.

The sun is a great energizer, but so is playing with your style! Be adventurous with your outfits on your next adventure. I dare you!
