The Red Valentino Great Es-Cape

I love a good coat more than anyone, however after four months of winter it can be challenging to style outerware in a way that feels fresh and exciting, while still serving its purpose of keeping me warm!

An easy way to refresh your look, while also staying warm, is to swap out your coat for a cape. Capes are alluring, mysterious, stylish dotting the runways at London Fashion Week more often than not (FW15 was all about the cape).

I think capes are daunting because no woman wants to resemble Harry Potter but more people should consider investing in one for their wardrobes because they are so versatile.

This cape is by Red Valentino. Red being an acronym for ‘Romantic Eccentric Dress’, Red Valentino is the playful and youthful diffusion line to the main Valentino brand. If you love an unconventional trend this brand is one to watch. This Red Valentino cape is a quirky yet luxe addition to any outerwear collection ideal for cooler temperatures like the ones London is experiencing this week. I’ve created a cape edit of my favourite styles available to shop right now, everything from sharp structured designs to more free-flowing and cascading styles.

Capes can sometimes run the risk of looking preppy, so when I want to look edgier I’ll pair mine with deconstructed denim to make sure I’m more downtown than uptown however sometimes it’s fun to fully embrace a look. Capes look incredible paired with an over the knee boot so if weather permits pull out a shorter hemline and pair with over the knee boots and a cape for an outfit that is feminine, sophisticated and fearless.
