This Season’s Trend: Velvet

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

When you think velvet pants you don’t exactly think versatile but that is exactly what these oversized Dries Van Noten leopard pants are. They were my staple throughout LFW and since then they’ve been on constant rotation in my fall wardrobe, they are not a one-wear-wonder!

A common misconception is that bold prints are hard to wear, but I promise  you don’t need to be Kate Moss to pull off a leopard print. These days’ leopard print is essentially a neutral, you can wear it with anything and everything and this fall I encourage you to do exactly that! Elevate a graphic tee by throwing on a Leopard biker jacket before leaving the house or pair a great leather mini with some leopard booties for a fierce Friday night look.

I paired this print with a velvet bodysuit because experimenting with texture is one of the best parts of fall dressing and velvet is in the midst of its biggest revival since Diana waltzed with Travolta. Mine is a lace detailed velvet bodysuit from Emiliano Rinaldi which has since sold out but you can still get your hands on one with a zipper down the front from the same designer.

Velvet on velvet might seem intense but I think that this trend is one that should be embraced by wardrobes worldwide. Velvet Pants are a must this season and stay tuned for my upcoming velvet edit that will feature a few of my faves.
